Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to attend the conference with my daughter?
No, parents do not have to attend. Volunteers will stay with each group of students during the day. However, we do offer a parent/chaperone program. Parents/Chaperones MUST register.
How do I register if I have more than one daughter?
You must fill out separate online registrations for each.
Can dads attend?
Yes, we welcome moms and dads.
My child has a special dietary need. Can I request a special lunch?
Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate special requests. Please send a bag lunch with your child.
Can I request that my daughter not be photographed?
No, all registrants must agree to the Workshop Consent, Assumption of Risk and Release Form. Throughout the day, volunteers and escorted media representatives will be photographing the conference activities. With such a large number of girls, it would be impossible to prevent one particular girl from being photographed.
Will my money be returned if my daughter can't come after I've sent in my money?
If we offer your daughter as seat (that another student could have taken), our policy is not to return your money.
What is the deadline for registration?
Registration closes on February 9. The Conference is limited to 200 students. More than likely, the conference will fill before February 9 and we will accept only waiting list applicants. Check our website to see if we are still accepting registrations.
What activities will go on in the workshops?
The workshops will be led by Central Florida engineers. The engineers will discuss their careers and field of expertise. The hands-on activity will relate to the specified workshop engineering discipline.
What laboratories will my daughter visit?
The girls will be visiting the Center for Research and Education in Optics and Lasers.
How do I apply for a financial need scholarship?
Please send an email to eyh@mail.ucf.edu . There are a limited number of financial scholarships available.
